Golf, Rodeo and a Casper Hotel

#vanlife .

After a night on the mountain we felt we deserved a break and checked into a Holiday Inn Express.  They called and told Mr Ram that the elevator was out of commission and asked if he still wanted that king suite on the 4th floor or a two bed queen suite on a lower floor.  He told them the forth floor was fine.  Once he informed Mrs Ram, he called back and asked for the lower floor room..

Normally when we arrive to check in, we park under the covered area by the door.  As we drove up it obvious a flock of birds had commandeered that covered area.  We parked several feet away from the covered area avoided walking directly under it for fear of receiving multiple deposits from the air.

We enjoyed a round of golf at the Casper Municipal Golf Course.  The 9 hole section we played seemed to meander around other sections of the course and we would easily have played the wrong holes if it weren’t for the twosome we were paired with.

On our sixth hole we had to wait for the pronghorn to finish crossing the fairway before completing our shots.

Mr Ram appreciated that there were no water hazards but still managed to loose a ball just off the fairway.

We had expected our stop at the 9 floors of Lou Tauberts Ranch Outfitters would consume several hours as we perused all of the ranch and western gear.  In reality any change in level was considered a floor and it was essentially a western clothing store.  Mrs Ram did try on a few boots but did not find aynything she liked.

On our second night we had surprisingly good Chinese food in Downtown Casper and then found the College Rodeo Finals at the Ford Wyoming Canter.  We opted for the unreserved, cheap seats that were only $10 each and enjoyed a great view.

Watching PBR or big shows in Calgary one gets the impression that the events are easy with numerous cowboys making that 8 second ride.  Watching many college students being tossed long before that 8 second buzzer reminded us how hard this sport really is,.
