Koshare

Since both of us are former Scouts and Mrs Ram was a Venture Scout Leader, we were intrigued by a museum that was started by Scouts.  The Koshare Museum in La Junta CO, opened in 1949, features an impressive and largest self supporting, 40 ton log ceiling for its theater area.

Displays included kachinas, bead work, jewelry, painting and pottery.

There were sections of the museum where we needed to use the lights from our phone to see some of the displays.  In other sections, we searched for light switches which seemed to be as inconveniently placed as possible.

Storage appeared to be another issue as we found a cleaning cart in front of some displayed and tables in the elevator.

And some displays left us scratching our heads because there were no descriptions.

The self guided tour book did have some additional info.  Some of the pages, such as the description for Spotted Wolfs Last Request, could easily have been enlarged and just posted next to the painting.

Others like the chair admonished us not to sit on it but we had no idea why it was here

Mr Ram did learn that Koshares are the clowns that show you what you are NOT supposed to do.

And once again we received that senior discount without asking.
