Lyme and Reading

#vanlife .

Some know the details about my nearly deadly encounter with Lyme Menegitis. Others may have read the one sentence in the about section which mentions it. After a couple of years it seemed like I had completely recovered.

A few effects did remain though. One was bells palsey. Most people cannot see it but I can tell the two sides of my face do not move symetrically anymore.

The more troubling problem was reading. Before having Lyme I could read quickly. When I had the time I could finish a book in few days.

After Lyme, reading was a chore. It was slow and plodding. I often had to reread pages to understand them. After a couple of years I could read better but finishing a book took weeks.

In the last 3 to 6 months, 5 years after my diagnosis of Lyme, I seem to have regained my original reading ability. I am back to absorbing a paragraph at a time rather than plodding along word by word.

So clearly this is not a travel post but information some might find useful.
