St Augustine Winter Diversions

#vanlife .

As part of our journey, we like to immerse ourselves in areas that we like. Having a 3 month winter break in St Augustine is one of those opportunities. During extended visits in an area we enjoy having space and privacy that our van and a camping spot does not provide.

And not moving every few days lets us seek out and find daytime activities and nightlife and return to the ones we enjoy. An evening at the Corner Bar with friends Brad, Nancy, Jim and Rita as well as dancing with Elizabeth to the tunes of Dave Besley and friends. We enjoyed the Southern Uprising at the St Augustine Amphitheater.

We went to the Scottish Games as well as a Renaissance Fair that had live targets,  jets flying overhead and Domino s pizza.

Mr Ram golfed at several of the area courses including St.John’s County, St Augustine Shores, Grand View and Palatka. With any luck he might even break 50…then he’ll play the back nine.

Mrs Ram enjoyed cowboy mounted shooting in Lady Lake. She has also had riding lessons and trail riding on a gated horse. Mr Ram even went out for a lesson.

We visited the Jacksonville Equestrian Center for the RV show and were also there for the roping finals.

The Jacksonville Baldwin Trail in Jacksonville offered a long, paved biking trail that did have some slight inclines. We headed to the bike trails in Palm Coast and on cooler days journeyed further south to Osteen to ride the East Central Regional Trail. Near this trail we found an amusing sign.

We can order things and not worry if it will be there somewhere along the way when we get there. (Seriously – ordering on line is much more challenging when you are always on the move.)

As the days here countdown, we are thinking of repacking the van. We have bought a few things and wonder if it will all fit back in. Our van Sparty has had an oil change, a new wiper and a new radio. Interesting places to visit like the Okefenokee Swamp or Augusta GA are drifting into our thoughts.

When the end of the month comes we will be ready to hit the road again. Till then we still have several days and nights of good music and time with friends as well as warm, snow-free weather.
