Just off of I-75 in Cordele, GA stands a Titan 1 Missile. These ICBMs were deployed for on a few years in the early 1960’s as part of the USAs nuclear arsenal.
This missile was originally based in California but enterprising locals convinced the Air Force to “loan” them the rocket after it was decommissioned.
As with many things the amusing tongue in cheek “Confederate” Site has been renamed to just “Titan 1 Missile” However there are still some webpages that refer to this as the Confederate Missile. The old sign can be seen on Atlas Obsura or the picture from there is below.
