The city of Mt Airy, NC is the birthplace of Andy Griffith and the inspiration for the town of Mayberry in the 1960s TV show “The Andy Griffith Show”. We had planned to stop by and possibly get a tour in a squad car but the stops at two different winereies slowed our progess. We arrived just after 5 pm. We did get see one of the tour squad cars and Wally’s replica service station but the tours were over the day.
The Replica Hotel/gift shop and Courthouse were still open and Mrs Ram considered leaving Mr Ram locked up for the night.
A stop at the nearby ice cream store counted as dinner and we continued north in search of the Confederat Battle Pig.
