It was hot in Wichita Falls Texas. That had us thinking of kayaking on Lake Wichita. Looking at the gusty wind making white caps made kayaking seem less appealing
Wichita Falls also has a long bike trail so maybe a bike ride? But there was that hot thing again and it was sunny. And the trail had no shade.
Golf. You ride around in a cart with built in shade and ice cold drinks. That sounded perfect.
We checked in at the pro shop of the Champions Course at Weeks Park and again received the Senior Discount without asking.
They gave us a small book to understand the course. The had great advice of how to play each hole. On some holes our abilities were not quite up to their expectations. However on few holes like the 9th, perfect placement led to a near par for both of us.
While relaxing at the 19th hole we started talking to Steve. We asked for some good BBQ places. He suggested the Branding Iron and P2
Branding Iron was closed on Tuesdays so we went to P2. We were surprised that this was not a BBQ place but a bar. But it was friendly bar with great quesadillas. As we drank our pitcher of Ziegenboch we talked to Tim, a 68 year old local who had been coming to the bar since he was 7.
We learned that this is one of the few places that can legally serve you beer in your car.
We also learned that Steve, that guy at the golf course, was the owner of P2.
