Many of us have seen a hot air balloon. Some have seen a few flying in the distance and thought, “That’s cool.”. Well a morning at the Balloon Fiesta is mind numbing with the sheer number of balloons on the ground and in the air.
Like many things worth doing, we started our day at 4 am, were picked up at 4:30 and then after parking, got to wait in line for the gates to open.
We had Gondola tickets which allowed us into the close parking area and included breakfast and an open bar. (an open bar at 6am?). After a breakfast that included the usual New Mexico question (red or green?) the first wave of balloons fired up and were off.
More balloons readied for launch as the sky brightened,
As the sun rose behind the Sandia Mountains, they just kept coming and in many different shapes.
Eventually the sky was full of balloons!
