After waiting for what seemed like forever, (it was only about 7 weeks from surgery) I was ready for a bike ride.
We drove down to The Thurman Hutchinson Park hoping that the bike paths by the river would be flat. Both of us were happy that they were and we enjoyed a short 2+ mile ride.
Not being able to ride had me cranky. I enjoy the exercise and the ability to go places under my own power.
During our ride we found the Patriots Peace Memorial honoring members of the armed services that died when there was no “official” wars going on.
The names were engraved on glass plates mounted in the walls. We were confused that the names were not alphabetical. We suspect that a random order will allow them to add names as unfortunately they probably will need to over time.
With Memorial Day just passed, it was a reminder that our service men and women might pay the ultimate price even during times of relative peace.
