We are the kind of #vanlife minimilsts that carry golf clubs. Both of us enjoy a round of golf. We are not good at it but we enjoy it. We camped at the Gordonia-Alatahama State Campground that also happens to have the Brazell’s Creek Golf Course as part of the state park.
The rating of 68.3 from the red tees For Brazell’s was higher than the 64.8 for St Augustine Shores, one if our favorite courses. From that we knew that the course would be more challenging. (Note that the rating is the score a good golfer will have for 18 holes.(1) We are happy to beat that score on 9 holes.)
We did have some confusion starting out as they have added “foot” golf to the course. There are more “tees” of various colors which confused the already color challenged Mr Ram.
At least Mr Ram did not need to worry about driving. Mrs Ram grabbed the driver’s seat as soon as we walked up.
The front nine had plenty of hills but no water hazards. Despite the lack of water we still managed to loose 3 balls.
After a scenic and long drive on a boardwalk you arrive at the much flatter and more wide open back nine. However we felt nine was enough and called it a day. Mr Ram scored an impressive (for him) 53 and Mrs Ram a 65. Like I said neither of us are very good.
==============================
1) The gold tees that Mr Ram plays from had a rating of 71 at Brazell’s. St Augustine does not provide a rating for it’s gold tees.
Also the red slope rating is 116, higher than the 106 at St Augustine Shores. That means the course is much tougher for bogey (or worse) golfers.
