As we headed north from the Okefenokee Swamp, we discovered that we were traversing Georgia during school vacation week. This unforseen occurrence made open camp sites rare.
Our first two selections were full. The Gordonia-Alatamaha State Campground did show availability. Rolling in after the office closed, we spoke with camp host Eddy who was wearing a Falcons shirt. He said we could pick any open site except 8 and 9.
As always we looked all of them over before choosing one, site #10, and settling in.
The next day was overcast with rain threatening. However just across the street lay a well-manicured, 18 hole Brazella’s Creek golf course. Mr Ram dug the clubs out from under our bed and off we went. For $34 we had a cart and were ready to golf.
If you have read some of our previous blogs you know Mr Ram is not that good a golfer. Mrs Ram learned how to golf from him. Together we have found playing “best ball” makes the game more fun … and much faster.
We enjoyed 9 holes and avoided most of the rain. Somehow the score card did not it make it back to the van.
UPDATE 2019: We stopped here again and you can find our updated thoughts here.
