Choosing a place to camp in this area is challenging. Many places are little more that dirt lots while the official camping area at Guadeloupe Mountains is a paved parking lot with a couple of trees.
Last time we were here we stayed at the KOA which was nice. This time we came on a whim and had no idea how long we would stay.
The Ioverlander app listed a spot several miles north of the caverns on BLM land, county road 772.
It was a nice spot
It was odd that the ranger who warned us off if that nice gravel road in the park said we would have no trouble on this road. It was way more challenging than the park road
For Guadeloupe we found another BLM spot that was not as nice but did the job
