Traveling has made it challenging to keep up my riding and cowboy mounted shooting. I enjoyed meeting another Facebook friend, Denny Chapman, in person and taking a class in Mounted Shooting.
It was cold out and Mr Ram opted to stay warm in the van for most of my lesson.
One of my goals was to increase my speed but the horse he had for me, JB, was a slow and steady horse rather than a speed expert. However he was safe and pushbutton. I understand that before letting someone shoot from your horse you want to make sure that this person isn’t going to do something unexpected. JB was definitely a safe horse which Mr Ram really appreciated.
Initially I am not sure if Denny believed I had been riding and shooting for a while. We ran a couple of courses and his advice was great and it was wonderful to get back to riding and shooting again. I picked up some good pointers though it was very cold outside. I finished up with a couple clean runs that Mr Ram caught on video.
I am hoping to take another lesson with Denny on a faster horse soon and if he has a horse available for a competition or a Jackpot match that would be fun. Next time I hope it will closer to 70 rather than freezing.
