Davis State Park was about 20 minutes north of Marfa and had showers. We asked for a flat site and the ranger decided to give us handicapped site 64. We told her we did not have a handicapped placard. She said it was ok for overnight.
When we found the site it was not like any handicapped site we had seen before with a steep angle in the parking spot.
We rushed back to the check-in station before it closed at 5 pm and she reassigned us to 78. That site was flat and perfect for us. We set up and started dinner.
A blue Tacoma rolled slowly by as I cooked. A minute later the Tacoma was back and asked if we were on the correct site (we were). A few minutes later a golf cart rolled up and and a ranger checked our tag.
I guess possession being 9/10 of the law was enough. We kept our site and the blue Tacoma ended up a few sites down.
The next morning we hiked the Montezuma Quail Trail then headed into Marfa.
