Deming NM is one of the towns mentioned in Blue Highways. William Least Heat Moon stopped at a restaraunt there that was rated well on his calendar scale and had some spicy food. We could not recall the places name but we enjoyed seeing the town.As we drove through town, we saw a sign for the museum. Small town museums are almost as big a draw as large things for us.
When we walked in we expected a couple of rooms if odd things. What we found was an entire building with a huge variety from furnishings to military displays.
There were artifacts from the Mimbres Ancient Indians.
I was surprised the doll room had a Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.
The telephone work station included a switch board and a computer that sat on my desk decades ago.
There were paintings, displays of life and equipment of days gone by, old town vehicles, hats and dresses.We also enjoyed talking to museum curators Barb, Diana and Bain.
