On line it had said few sites were available in tge campground a few days before we arrived. Mr Ram felt compelled to make a reservation. What he did not know and the online site did not publish is that most of the sites where walk in sites.
That more remote, reserved site was supposed to be on the water.
With low water levels this was our view.
The site did come with lots of tiny, annoying, biting bugs. Normally they might swatm for a short time. Not so here. They lasted all afternoon and into the evening. Bugs spray and citronella did not deter them and the wind seemed to just make them fly closer to you.
As the sun was setting we had to do something. The camp host and the park ranger both admitted that this little bugs had just hatched and we’re especially annoying. There were fewer of them in the main camping area and they said it was fine to move to any walk in site there.
This site had an actual water view.
Mr Ram had hoped to kayak to end the of the lake and up the river. The southwest drought cut that short about three quarters of the way up the lake.
This is when we began to wonder how it might effect our kayak to Antelope Canyon.
