We stopped in Pennsylvania to see Mrs Ram’s brother and enjoy several of his generous cocktails. Mr Ram needed a day to recover.
We continued west landing at the Bulltown Campground in West Virginia. It was a week before Memorial Day so most sites were empty. We picked a level spot right on the water.
As we settled in for the evening it began to rain. That’s when both our phones buzzed warning us of flash floods. Not comforting as we drifted off to sleep next to the water.
We awoke to find ourselves still above water but our camp site had become a puddle.
Mrs Ram tested out her new fishing rod combo from LL Bean that came in a compact carrying case.
She chatted with fellow fishermen Mike and Sue a few sites away who invited us for dinner. We met their Boston Terrier Suzie and talked of travel and places to retire.
They filled us in on some surprises that property in West Virginia can have. You could wake up one day to find all of “your” trees have been cut down and removed because the property’s mineral rights had been sold separately years ago.
Or one day an old woman knocks on your door and asserts the “right to live” in the house she once owned. You kept that spare room ready for her, right?
