The vistors entrance takes you into the basement through a metal detector to the visitor's desk underneath the glass floor of the Rotunda. We now know that Mrs. Rams new bionic neck pieces will not set off metal detectors.
We opted to take a self-guided tour which consists of a map and wandering around the building that cost three million dollars to build in 1836. It has five domes the largest of which is covered in gold. The multi-story library was impressive and the staffer in the Secretary of State's office gave us a quick tour and copy of their constitution. Who knows what interesting things might be buried in their constitution.
