The Cummer Museum in Jacksonville is free on the first Saturday of the month so we headed over thinking we had the perfect way to spend a day inside away from the cold. Some how we misread our calendar – December 9th was the second Saturday.
Rather than pay the $10 each admission we took a short walk to the River Art and Farmers Market then headed for the Bold City Brewery.
We have been drinking Bold City’s Dukes Brown Ale for several years and wanted to try a few more of their brews. When we said it was our first time their they suggested a flight to taste. And they said those words we love to hear, “It’s free”
We enjoyed their pumpkin and their Red Ale.
After a couple of drinks Ryan, one of the founders, gave us a private tour. We like to think we are special but we got a private tour only because no in else was ready for a tour.
He filled us in on the details of wort and we talked about beers and meads we have made. We sampled 2 day old and 10 day beer.
After that exhausting tour it was time for another beer, and some food. We had spent 3 hours there and the food hut was finally open.
Great beer and people and good bar food. If only we could have camped in their parking lot.
