We are always looking for places with interesting people, fun activities, music, beer and wine. There are places that we expect to find one or a number of these such as Durango.
We did not expect to find these things in the tiny Town of Mancos. This rural town has a population of about 1,300. Yet it has several art galleries, a brew pub and cidery/winery.
Both if us found paintings we liked and Mrs Ram picked up a book by a local author. Mr Ram saw an off center bowl with a spot for a nut cracker.
At Outliers, after sampling several of their ciders we decided we preferred beer or wine but enjoyed trying something different. Outliers also had a Riesling wine that was very good and we liked that they had music in the evening.
We were not excited about any of the beers at the Mancos Brewing Company but their food was excellent. And they also had music while we were there.
Saturday night they closed one of the streets down town for a concert featuring Afro Beat.
We had a wood fired pizza that night and found our selves back at Outliers for more of their wine and music.
We met several people on our visits to Mancos but none were natives. Roger was moving here from Alaska. Evan and Kim had moved here from the ‘Front Range’ – that’s the Denver side of the Rockies .
The bartender, Eric, was from New Jersey and the people we drank with Saturday night were from Illinois (Hillary), California (Guinaveve), Wisconsin (Bobby) and Australia (Dave).
All of this made us wonder if we should buy in now before everyone else wants to move here.
