When we light our stove or a fire we always use a lighter. Nothing fancy, just on if those long nose ones you find in a two pack in the grilling section of Walmart.
Or course being former scouts and descendents of thrifty and resourceful New Englanders, we have matches in the junk drawer just in case.
As we were sitting enjoying our orange flavored beverages (which were not alcoholic because that was against the rules), a woman on a bike came into our site. She washoping to find matches to light her stove.
We had matches. The cover said Tedeschi, a convenence store is Massachusetts that was sold in 2015. Of course they had sat in our junk drawer in our house for who knows how long before being moved the junk drawer on our van.
We offered them to the woman along with a lighter just in case.
She tested one match before leaving our campsite and it worked.
But did we now worry that we have no matches in our junk drawer? No. We have several more in a storage box. Under our bed.
