Struggling to get a campsite seems like a common problem this year. We had spoke to a couple in a van at the Huntsville Campground that had decided not to go to Colorado because campsites were unavailable.
Mr Ram had waited to get camp sites for the first part of this trip because he wasn’t sure when vaccines would be available. Now it seemed only one site was available at Mineral Wells State Park– a horse camping site.
Mr Ram called and then said it would be ok to camp in that site since it was the last one available. Mrs Ram was excited that we would camping with horses.
Driving into the camping area we were glad there had not been any recent rainfall. You had to drive over the spillway.
When we arrived we were surprised to find there were no horses. Apparently camping spots here were in such high demand they gave out all the horse spots to regular campers.
There were plenty of kids here though. They are kinda like horses except that you can’t tie them to a picket line and they are more expensive.
After a good night’s sleep and a hot shower we were off again.
