Rain and cold kept us off the hiking trails on our last few days in Moab, but it did not keep us out of the wineries. The Spanish Valley Winery, south of Moab, had a small tasting room and the door was open when we arrived. Inside we found Glen testing wine samples for malic and lactic acidic content.
We enjoyed talking with Glen as he finished up and then went to tasting their wine. As we sampled their reds we were joined by a couple from Washington and another from British Columbia. The Spanish Valley reds were not to our liking but we enjoyed their Riesling and Gewurztraminer.
The Castle Creek Winery was located up 128 on the east side of Arches. We passed a number of BLM campgrounds that Mr Ram would likely have chosen had it not been for Mrs Ram’s shower and pool requirements.
Again we were not excited about their reds but enjoyed their Petroglyph white.
Adjacent to the winery is the their hotel and small movie museum. There were pictures and props from several movies films around Moab and we added a few of them to our list of movies to check out later.
The cost of wines at both wineries were $15 to $20, more reasonable than the $20 to $40 prices we found in Arizona.
