Cap Rock State Park, named after the hard rock later near the surface, started out with a great welcome. Besides our buffalo we also had a coyote and rabbit that visited our site. They opted to visit us at different times during the day
We soon discovered the park would present some challenges during our 4 day stay.
We discovered that the showers were locked. We figured we could fill our solar shower the next day
When we officially checked in we learned that their water system had frozen over winter. That lead to no showers and a requirement to boil any water they we would consume.
Now we wished we had filled all of our water containers at Copper Breaks. (Note to self: always leave a campground that has good water with every water container full)
Our campsite #6 was at 2,560 ft which was about a 1,200 ft jump from our last stop.
We were feeling that additional elevation when we were hiking. The North Prong Spur gave us a moderate hike.
When we took a break, Mrs Ram watched a group of ants move some dried fruit across the trail and into their nest.
On our last day we took the short hike to the Natural Bridge. Part of that hike included a walk on the road since they did not put the parking at the trailhead.
The bridge was hard to see on the trail they suggested. However hiking down the opposite side provided a view of the bridge. The passage was mostly blocked so we did not go through
As we left the buffalo gathered by the side of the road to say goodbye.
