Palo Duro Canyon State Park

#vanlife .

We had resererved Hackberry site 28, the site we had when we passed through a few years ago. The next site over, #30, would have been better as it has a shelter. (Sites 133, 128 and140 in Sagebrush also looked good too)

Showers and laundry were a priority when we arrived here. Once we had settled in, we noticed how pesty the little flies were. Fortunately they did not bite much. Well they didn’t bite Mr Ram much. They did like Mrs Ram’s ankles.

We met a number of great people at this park. Jim and Cathy were from Pensacola. They have travelled a lot in their Lance travel trailer with their kayaks on their truck. We enjoyed a couple of evenings with them drinking wine and swapping stories.

Garren and his family travelled in their class C motorhome with a Jeep for a toad. Garren, an Arkansas native, gave us several spots like Devil’s Den and Mt Nebo to check out on our next trip in Arkansas.

Juli and Wen were newer campers who survived a small bout of hail in their tent during their stay in Palo Duro

We also chatted with Barry, a fellow Ram owner and Suzanne and Steve who travelled in their minivan and slept in a cot-tent.

There were some campers who were not as considerate. One group camping in a site near the rest rooms used all the restroom parking.

And watching people trying to back-up have recently bought a travel trailer reminds us why we are in a van.

After a year of Covd exile, we enjoyed being with many other people.

  1. Was great hanging out with you two. At Palo Duro. Fun sharing both stories and wine.
Hope the hail storm didn’t do much damage on your unit!
    Safe travels,
    Kathy
