We decide head to Banff through the the Kananaskis Valley. The views driving through the valley were spectacular.
At the visitors center a guy in a class c said there a couple of campsites left in Lower Lake Loop C. With a busy weekend expected we knew we had to act on a hot tip like this.
We rolled in and found the camphost just leaving site 80. It was secluded, flat and most importantly it was available. By the time we finished filling out our slip, the other available sites were taken and the campground was full.
We headed to the upper lake boat ramp and slipped our kayaks into the water. Mrs Ram looked at the lake map but did not grasp how big the lake really was. Between the wind and the vastness of the lake, we were exhausted when done. After a day of rest we tackled the lower lake. When the wind picked we knew better and headed back to the boat ramp.On our way out of the park some grizzly bears wanted to say goodbye.
So if you are looking to get spectacular views, great kayaking and avoid the craziness of Banff, try this provincial park.
