After the Mall of America we were looking for a place to take a bike ride and test out Mr Rams new wheel. Our first choice was flooded and we ended up at Fort Shelling.
The fort, originally built in the 1810s, is a Minnesota Historical Monument that did not accept our National annual pass. The did have a free video and a display area.
We learned the fort housed the Military Intelligence Language School during WW2. Mostly Japanese Americans learned translation and interrogation skills. Deployed through out the Pacific, they garnered critical information from POWs. Most Japanese prisoners had not been trained to resist interrogation as they were expected to die rather than be captured.
This is also the site where the famous Dred Scott case has originated.
And they had reconstructed the clock from the fort’s headquarters.
And we went for a bike ride too.
