In western Texas, our van Sparty’s oil change reminder came on. In Fredericksburg I realized I could ignore it no longer. There were three Ram dealers near us or along our path. But which one to choose.
Lone Star would be close to our next stop in San Antonio and they had an Express Lane quick oil change. I was concerned with their rating of 3.4. Looking at the reviews it seemed many of the good reviews were for sales. Service reviews were not enthusiastic. The clincher for me was no Promasters in inventory for sale. The last thing I wanted to hear was, “Look at that! We haven’t had one of these in here for months…”
Ingram Park had a higher rating at 4.1 with fewer bad reviews and it had an Express Lane. The few service reviews said they were ok but it was very busy. Again they had no Promasters on their lot.
Brown Ram’s rating was in between at 3.8. Most service reviewers were happy and they had an Express Lane (though their web site does not advertise it). Their web site showed that they sold Promasters so they should not be surprised to see one.
The service advisor had Sparty in quickly. We sat in the small waiting area and enjoyed free coffee and cookies. Mr Ram wandered into the sales area and admired the Challenger.
A sales associate, Rick, checked to see if Mr Ram was ready for a test drive. Ready? Sure! But there was no place in his garage for one – ok there was no garage. Despite not being a potential buyer, Rick chatted with both Mr and Mrs Ram for a bit, making both of us feel welcome in a dealership far from our New England roots.
After about an hour their Express Lane had Sparty ready to go. They had also discovered that we had a pre-paid oil change in the system and that we did not owe them anything making our stop even more enjoyable.
Sparty and us are ready for another 10,000 miles of travels.
