When we lived in New England, there was always a week or two in August that had days with the “Three H-s” Hazy, Hot and Humid. In northern Florida the Three H-s arrive in May and last through September. Overnight can be cooler but it is still oppressive.
Sparty was ready to head west with the bikes and his hunting hat on (that would be the kayaks on his roof). However when we arrived at our fist stop, Ocheesee Pond, it was over cast, drizzling and 68 degrees. When you want those Three Hs, that’s when they decide to go on vacation.
Rather than cook outside in the rain, Mrs Ram found a Middle Eastern restaurant, Mashawy, where we chatted with our waitress Deb and the owner as we sanpled grape leaves lamb, hummus and pita bread.
We then headed to our campsite in the Florida Caverns Stare Park. We hoped that the rain would not effect our planned tour of the caverns.===============================
Not all of the crew agrees with the assessment of summer in Florida. Mrs Ram compares summer in Florida to winter up North. There are several months were the weather is miserable outside so you just stay in where its comfortable. A big plus for summer uncomfortable – you can’t slip and fall on humidity.
Bonus Points – Can you find Snoopy?
