I have done a bit if whining about Kelowna traffic and the campgrounds. But there are lots of great wineries here.
On our first day we did the Southeast tour. All of the wineries had good white wine but we struggled to find a drinkable red.
The most unique one was Frequency which clarified their wine with sound waves. They also placed the wine in their recording studio so it can pick up the good vibes of the bands music. We were not sure it improved the taste of the wine. We did buy a can (yes a can) for someone that we thought might appreciate it.
The View Winery gave us a nice color photo book on the wineries of the Okanagan Valley which we passed along to two women in a campsite near us in Idaho.
And all of the wineries had events like free music at the Rose Winery or pricey Shakespeare at the Spearhead.
Our next day we sampled three wineries. We liked the wines from the Indigenous Winery best. However Mission had the best grounds and view.
Off The Grid wines were fine but we expected more hype about how they managed to make the wine with out being connected to the grid.
By day 3 we had drifted south of Kelowna in search of a decent campground. From our campsite in Okanagan Provincial Park it was a short drive to two more wineries.
The SeeYaLater Winery had some good wines. However our final winery, Nighthawk, was the ideal combination of tasty, affordable wines, beautiful view and gracious host. After sampling their wines, we bought a bottle and sat overlooking the pond eating lunch.
Sadly we missed a few wineries that we had wanted to stop at. The Sleeping Giant Fruit Winery, The Backdoor and the Silkscarf would have to wait for our next trip North.
Maybe by then we will have the stamina to do seven wineries in one day like the tour groups.
