Buffalo and Sage Creek – The wild west of camping

Sage Creek

Sage Creek is a primitive camp area that we describe in detail here.  This campground is the wild west of camping- no designated campsites, no designated  maximum number of campers, no camp host,  two pit toilets and a bunch of flat space.  Just pick a spot, park or pitch your tent and you are good to go.  You just need to roll with the craziness.
It was very windy.  The wind blew our stove right off the table adding another dent to the lid.
Our first night here there were lots of people, a few horses and that one crazy drunk guy.  But he was a good drunk and the only one that told people they were not supposed to have open fires in the this fire prone area.  And who is going to argue with a crazy drunk guy?
And the Buffalo...

Buffalo

Sage Creek is their turf.  You do not need to go looking for them.  They just wander through.

And when we did go for walk, we stopped to look at some flowers and discovered a buffalo near us saying "You can't see me." as he stood only a few feet away in some trees.
