The uninvited guest and a midnight stop

#vanlife .

When Mrs Ram got up at Chiricahua, she noticed a shredded tissue on the counter. She figured Mr Ram had a fight with the tissue box and the tissue lost.

Later she found a plastic bag with a hole in it and another tissue and began to wonder if a small critter had found its way into the van.

After going to bed that evening, she worried it might still be there. Soon she swore they she heard something and woke Mr Ram.

Mr Ram thought it might just be her imagination. After a quick check that did not turn anything up, it was off to bed again. This time Mrs Ram was quickly off to sleep while Mr Ram lay awake listening.

Then the noises came.

Lying there one does not want to believe you have an uninvited guest in your van. Yet when the lights went on there was another shredded tissue.

Now we were both up and trying to figure out what to do. As Mr Ram sat on the stool, a small rat popped up from behind the driver’s seat. And he stared at Mr Ram. Then both of them jumped.

As we searched again the rat ran for the sliding door. Mr Ram opened the slider and hoped that he might jump out. We did not see him leave but eventually closed the door.

We hoped he had left but feared he was still hiding in some crevice.

In the dark we slowly backed out of our spot avoiding the big rock, grille and the many trees.

We punched in the nearest truck stop into our GPS hoping they would have glue traps. The Wilcox one could barely be called a convience store. We plugged in a pilot 40 miles down the road.

We rolled in and were surprised that they had everything. Besides travel items it was a small supermarket and a hardware store. They had our glue traps and showers. We did wonder why they had these.

When we checked out we discoverded we were at Main Street Market not a Pilot.

Clean and with glue traps in place, we finally went to sleep.

The next day Mr Ram pulled out all of the storage under the bed and removed the microwave and refrigerator. There were no signs of our guest.

After three days of night time silence we figured he had probably left when that slider was open.

And we now have glue traps in case one of his friends tries to move in.
