Art is subjective. As artists, both of us Rams know.
We wanted to experience the art on exhibit in the Prado. And much of it was very well done. Mrs Ram appreciate the works of Vasquez and Rembrandt. Our biggest surprise was seeing Mona Lisa. Admittedly not “The” Mona Lisa but one supposedly painted at the same time and in Leonardo’s studio.
This time Mr Ram knew he wasn’t supposed to take a picture and was spoken to before he has a chance to snap the shot.
But a good portion of the museum is filled with middle age religious art and depictions of ancient myths. So many had an up turned, angelic themes or were just disturbing. I did not wish to see someone flayed with a knife, raped, an ancieny god eating his offspring or a depiction of Jesus circumcision.
And we wondered about some descriptions. One painting was called Cupids at Play. Yet one cupid is chasing another with a torch, another shooting arrows at his friend’s while s third peed on some unsuspecting cupids below. And what was that devil like character doing in the corner of the painting?
And don’t get in the way of an art patron in a rush here. The museum seems to attracted the rudest people around.
After several hours we needed a break and spent some just sitting in the park. We had some time to create art of own.
