Lead and Deadwood are located next to each other in the northern Black Hills of Sourh Dakota and are very different.
Deadwood is the old west tourist place you expect with museums, saloons, casinos, an old graveyard and re-creation of gun fights (2pm at the Tin Lizzie, 4pm at the Celebrity Hotel and 6pm at the Silverado)
Lead (pronounced leed) shows its working class roots with a more normal downtown with some spaces for lease. It’s big attraction is the gold mine that was recently closed. It’s now the visitor center with tours if the old mine. Sadly we arrived too late to visit.
