This is one of those towns that comes up on many lists as a great place to retire so it’s been on our list of places to visit for a while. Founded in the 1700s and located on the eastern side of the Smokies leads to a town with lots of hills and small streets. And lots of breweries.
Just a few steps from our hotel was the Hi-Wire Brewery. We had a long chat with a retiree from Atlanta. We also tried a New England IPA that tasted like grapefruit juice.
This was another place where music is just part of life. Pick up the Mountain Xpress and check out the long list of music under clubland listings or check their on line calendar.
Many places have music. We sampled Piano and Bass at the Grand Bohemian, Reggae at Highland and Hot Jazz at the 5 Walnut Wine Bar.
And you find lots of art in the two competing Art Districts: the River and Downtown. We liked the paintings by Jonas Gerard.
Sparty thought his van was wild.
Mrs Ram found her wings here.
