We have stopped by a number of state capitols in our travels. The Lone Star States capitol has the distinction of also having been the capitol of a sovereign country, the Republic of Texas.
We were lucky to find street parking right in front of the capitol complex. So we did not need to see if our van Sparty would fit in one of the nearby parking garages.
Their legislative branch is like many others with a Senate and a House. What we found unique was that it met for only a few months every other year. Legislators need to have a real job too.
Our tour guide pointed out that Texas has had six different governments. The six flags of these governments are the basis for the amusement park Six Flags.
