Driving north from El Paso to Lios Cruces, there are 4 wineries including the Rio Grande, one we had visited before. All of them were closed. One, the Sombre Antigua, had people there. They thought we booked a spot to camp with them through Hipcamp. They were not interested in having us taste wine.
Near the end of the road we found the Spotted Dog Brewery. They were open and had a great selection of beer. We liked the black lager, stout and nut brown. And the had great garlic fries.
So in this random comparison of breweries and wineries, breweries win hands down.
