Catskills Camping

#vanlife .

The North South Campground has several different loops nearly all of which appeared to have many excellent sites. Loop 1 seemed like it was better for tents or small RVs. We found a site (#176) that had a view of the lake and a short walk to the restrooms. Restrooms were clean and hot water was adequate.

When we arrived it was beautiful. We drove in and the van was close enough to level so that we did not need the levelers. We did decide it was a good time test out our awning 1.0. It probably took about a half hour and entire roll of rope but we did get it up. Then on to dinner and enjoying the view and fire.

The next morning we awoke to mist and cool temps. After coffee and breakfast, I jumped on my bike and headed to the camp entrance. We had arrived about 4:30 but the entrance shacks was closed and there was sign indicating the sites that were reserved. We were to find a site and stop by in the morning to pay.

Little did we no know that that would be the best part of the day. The rain and wind picked up. Our awning 1.0 worked well at giving us a dry spot is the water world we found ourselves in.

After dinner it was still raining so we read for a short time in the van and called it a night. The morning brought us....more rain. time to pack up and move on.

So is this a good place to stay? Probably. But we will need to come back to be sure.
