Elvis and Graceland

#vanlife .

We were passing through Memphis so we had to stop at Graceland.  We had seen Big Elvis in Vegas.

Mrs Ram picked a camping spot in the city next to the park.  It turned out to be the perfect place for seeing Graceland since we could walk in and save the parking fee.

The $99 ticket was steep but we did get to wait in line for the movie, wait in line for the bus, wait in line to get into his mansion and wait in line for the bus back.  It was very Disney-esque but less entertainment in line so we talked to the people with us in line who were in town for a conference.

The iPad tour was good with John Stamos, one of the guys from Full House, as the narrator.  I did miss having interaction with a real tour guide and the people around me.  Graceland employees were there to get us and make sure we did not touch things were not supposed to touch.

There is no mention of his reported drug abusr. Mrs Ram was disappointed that there were no horses in the paddocks.

There were no lines at the gift shops and we enjoyed seeing his cars, gold records, and other memorabilia including the TV he shot because Robert Gulet was on it.

Campground was decent with hot showers and flush toilets.  However you knew you were in a city with traffic and sirens.  One night was enough for us.
