Some see our travels as an extended vacation. We do try to enjoy ourselves as we travel but we still have lots of day-to-day things that we need to get done. Running errands like shopping and returns is one. Another is laundry.
Mrs Ram had tried using that compact set of fishing rods from LL Bean mentioned here. However everytime she found herself fighting with them and eventually just cutting her line and starting over. The set needed to be returned.
Mrs Rams chair suddenly had a pin break. Fortunately REI lets you exchange things for up to year. However you do need to get to an REI to do that.
Our Bass Pro camp mat had only a couple of uses and was already falling apart. I admit its not an expensive mat but our last cheap mat lasted us a year.
Kansas City had all the stores we needed and a campground with laundry too.
The Longview Campground south of the city would give us easy access to all of the stores we needed and had laundry. Our plan was to settle in, keep cool in the shade, make dinner, get a load of laundry done and run errands the next day. We looked at the washer and dryer before checking in and realized they were not up to the task. One washer was full of water, the other was rusty and the dryers looked terrible.
Since it was hot we opted to run errands and then worry about where we would sleep later. LL Bean could accept Mrs Rams return but they had no fishing gear there so she could not get a new fishing rod there. She did find a new head lamp for her hat and a new, smaller toiletry bag.
REI did not directly exchange the chair. The made us return it and rebuy it. That meant we had to give back our rewards from last year and pay the local tax. This “exchange” cost us about $5.
Bass Pro was the final stop to swap the mat. Sadly all of the mats appeared to have the same defects as the one we had so we just returned it. Mrs Ram did find a new fishing rod there. As we were leaving I asked if we could parked overnight in there lot and they said yes.
We had done our errands a day early and finally found a place for the night. Laundry was an issue for another day.
With the sun down and both fans running full tilt it felt somewhat cooler and we managed to get to sleep.
