We started our morning waking up in the Powderville Walmart. It was one of the few in the area that allowed overnight parking. We slept ok as parking lot was level but the store was busy and the parking lot did not quiet down until after 11 pm.
After a breakfast of cereal and coffee in our van, we headed to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Parking at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe we planned on riding into downtown and back and then stop at the cafe for pizza and beer.
The path in was easy but very crowded. Lots of people enjoy cycling and walking here. And a ride on a cities bike path usually gives us a quick sense of the people in the area.
When we stopped in Waco TX everybody on the bike was friendly an curteous. People said , excuse me and seemed generally in a good mood. Austin TX was the complete opposite. People were not directly rude but they did not want to say hi and seemed annoyed when we did.
In Greenville older people seemed more willing to say hi while younger people did not.
We stopped in Airplane Park where there is a F86 Saberjet commemorating their native son Major Rudolph Anderson. He was shot down during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Mrs Ram enjoyed a trail was an actual trail and had scenic rest stops unlike our biking in Athens. There were even art shops along the trail in downtown.
When we returned to our van Sparty we found that cafe was only open Thursday to Sunday – it was Tuesday
We were forced to drink canned beer from our fridge and eat feta, olive and hummus roll ups.
