Camping next to the Canyon Ferry Reservoir on the Missouri we expected to have a cooling breeze and we did. Add the shade from our tarp and a dip in the water and it was pleasant – until about 4 pm.
At that point the heat seemed to come from everywhere, the wind died down and the water started to look gross. And where did that haze come from?
We went to bed and slept fitfully. It cooled off some as the night progressed.
When we woke up here were nearly alone.
It was Monday and that weekend crowd was gone, except for Jesus and Christi. They had an older travel trailer and truck and stayed an extra day because they were headed to Great Falls to see Gabriel Iglesias, also known as Fluffy, a fantastic comedian.
They let us know where the water was (3 turn outs over), gave us a ride there (it was far) and left us three days of wood.
They also filled us in on the haze – forest fires.
As our second day there progressed it got hotter and hazier. By 2 pm we decide to move on.
