Low Lying Areas May Flood

#vanlife .

The second night at Palo Duro brought rain. Lots and lots of rain. For us it meant our roof fan shut off automatically in the middle of the night.

The blinking light indicating the rain sensor was active woke Mrs Ram. So Mrs Ram woke Mr Ram from a very deep sleep. Groggily he tried things to shut off the light. Shutting the power of did turn off the light but it also shu off the refrigerator. he realized he needed help.

Digging through draw he discovered there was no paper manual. Now wide awake, he opened his computer for the PDF. Pushing and holding the sensor button will turn the sensor off. However when the sensor is off, the light blinks.

The only solution was to dry the sensor. Sticking a paper towel through fan with pencil and rubbing the sensor finally turned the offending light off.

In the morning we heard tge lower part of campground was flooded. Our friends Jim and Cathy had to move. We saw the aftermath in the flooded campsites.

We were thankful our only problem had been a blinking light.

It did make us wonder how high the water might rise. A sign on the road answered that question.

This was above the level of our campsite. However we assumed it would not rain that much…
