This book provided background for many of the events and people that shaped Luckenback, especially Hondo. There are numerous stories including Hondo’s purchase and promotion of the town and Sheriff Marge’s bartending and law enforcement skills.
And the book has some great pictures.
Written by Hondo’s daughter it brought to mind a time when simple things were important like getting together to play music and drink beer with good friends and an alcoholic rooster.
The author filled in some of the older history of the town in very straightforward, readable sections. Mr Ram especially enjoyed the section on Jacob Brodbeck. He was an inventor in the late 1800s who built early flying machines that were spring driven.
