Austin is known for it’s music scene. As a newcomer in any area, we need to figure out how to find the good, free music. Google turned up two sites: ChronoEvents and DO512.
Our first night out we stopped at St Elmo’s for a beer and burger. Then to Broken Spoke where we enjoyed the live country music and had Lone Star beer. The performer turned the heat down when she started eventually making it too cool for us.
The following night at the Continental Club, we enjoyed happy hour drinks and west coast swing music. We tried dancing but we’re no match for the band’s tempo and were way out of our league compared to the others dancers.
Traffic was the struggle for us getting to these places. Lots of cars and lanes that insist you turn left or right. As we approached the Broken Spoke, we discovered we were in a left turn only lane.
Mr Ram was resigned to taking the turn when the truck with Texas plates ahead of him went straight on a left arrow. Figuring this local knew what was best, Mr Ram followed him.
Mrs Ram needed that drink by the time we got to the bar.
