Leaving our Olive Ridge campsite, we headed to the Rocky Mountain National Park and up the unpaved Old Fall River Road to the Alpine Visitors Center. Its a dirt road with switchbacks and we did not see anything worth stopping for. The parking lot at the visitors center was packed and we were lucky to find a spot for our van Sparty. We saw others including this odd VW circling for a space.
Mrs Ram met Finn, a King Charles Cavalier, and her owners Hunter and Heather. Hunter has a religious podcast that I forgot to write down the link. (Hunter if you read, this drop me an email so we can check out your podcast)
We did get to enjoy some snow at just under 12,000 feet and some great views.
Further down the road, we stopped for a short hike that brought us out to the mighty Colorado River.
Ok so here in the Rockies its not so big but it was a nice hike.
As our day drew closer to sunset we figured we could find a camp site at one of the four National Forest Campgrounds outside the west end of the park. We were wrong. All of the sites were occupied or had a reserved tag on it. We hit Forest Road #4 and wandered out in search of free camping. We were not disappointed.
