Seven Mile Bridge

#vanlife .

We were in the Florida Keys over 20 years ago.  It was the first time we had ever crossed a bridge that spanned so many miles over water.  Both of us recall it being a worrisome experience in our little rental car.

Many years and miles later we returned to this bridge and it seemed much less daunting.  We have been over the 18 miles of swamp on I-10’s Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. And we have traversed that long, 18 mile bridge and tunnel in the Chesapeake where we were warned not go over 40 mph because high winds might knock Sparty over.

The Seven Mile Bridge still provided a few interesting things though.  First where the residents of the old bridge:  Fred, Wilma and Donna.

Fred the Tree

These three trees have taken root and thrived on that old bridge and survived storms that should have swept them away.  We hear that during the holidays the trees are decorated with Christmas lights.

The second thing was watching someone at work servicing the power lines.

Check out the video here.

Watching that video will make one appreciate having a nice, safe job behind a desk, or driving a truck or just about anything else.
