Heading north this summer, we passed through Columbia SC looking for a place for a drink. Our first stop was at the Hunter Gatherer Brewery located in a hanger at the Hamilton-Owen Airport. It looked like a great place. But we showed up over an hour too early for the 4 pm opening.
We headed to Steel Hands Brewing which was open. The first two we sampled were uninspiring. The Tropical IPA was very IPA, not very tropical. But the Pecan Brown – that was excellent. The Southwest BBQ Nachos were large and delicious too.

The atmosphere there was different from many brew pubs we have been to. It had more of a feeling of a bar and band venue that just happens to brew beer.
