Unexpected Birthday Party

#vanlife .

Mrs Ram spotted a write-up in the Kudos, a local paper here in Sedona, for an evening piano sing along.  A bar, some drinks food, music to sing with – Mr Ram said sure.  We plugged the address into our GPS and off we went.

Our GPS announced, “You have arrived.” We were on a residential street with a number of cars parked on the edge of the road.  As we walked to the entrance we had the feeling we were crashing a party rather than hitting the bars.

We stood by the front door hearing music and singing echoing from the house.  When the music stopped we ring the bell.  If we had made a mistake we figured we could be long gone before the cops would arrive.

Surprisingly the owner opened the door and invited us.  Turned out we were crashing a party – Jeannie was celebrating her 80th birthday.

They added a table in front for, we poured a couple of glasses of wine and joined in.  The piano player was Susannah Martin. We enjoyed singing along to Side by Side and Don’t  Worry be Happy.

After singing happy birthday to Jeannie we had the best tiramisu I ever had.

A glass or two more wine and more singing made for a wonderful evening.

Happy Birthday Jeannie!

  1. I used to do that in high school, drive around, find a party and just kind of “fold in”. Worked out great most of the time. Great way to meet new and interesting people. Sometimes the cover charge was more than I could afford though, in more ways than one. But I highly recommend it……..highly.
