Windshields

#vanlife .

Driving North on I-77 in West Virginia, cars and trucks bunched up as we approached an exit.  One pickup with a trailer roared up the ramp across the inside and into the passing lane.

BANG.

We knew a stone must of hit us but we could not see where.  Several miles later we finally saw the small crack in the windshield.  Somehow that tiny rock found that sliver of windshield just below the wiper but above the hood.  It did not seem bad – maybe it could be filled?

By the time we reached our next rest stop, it had become a few inches long.  No fixing that.

When we visited our friend in Pennsylvania, there was a Safelight store only a few miles away.  It took them about two hours and we had a nice, new windshield.

On our way home we were driving south on I-81.  We decided we needed a break and were slowing to go onto the ramp for the rest area.  There was no one was around us.

BANG.

We could not believe it – another stone crack – this time just above the wiper.  Fortunately this one stayed as just an impact crack.  We called ahead to an Asheville Safelight and were able to get this one filled.

Hopefully we have filled our quota of windshield cracks for this van.
